My client, A dynamic software development company located 10 km north of Stellenbosch, is looking for an IT technician to take ownership of their internal infrastructure. This is a position created to support the transition from outsourced cloud services to an in-house managed server environment. The role also offers the opportunity to build a future customer-facing IT support function.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up, manage, and maintain internal Linux/Unix and Windows-based infrastructure
• Install, configure, and support software, operating systems, and cloud systems (Proxmox, etc.)
• Monitor systems and networks, manage upgrades, backups, and system restores
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
• Liaise with vendors and support services as needed
• Research and implement emerging technologies and trends
• Develop an outsourced IT support offering for clients
• Servers, Red Hat, Proxmox. Configure System Maintenance
• Technical Support - Hardware, Software and Network Issues. Diagnose and resolve down time. Vendor support services.
• Manage and Maintain internal Cloud Systems

Requirements:

• Relevant degree, diploma, qualification in Information Technology or similar
• CompTIA Network +, CompTIA A+, MSCE
• Linux Certified - Systems Administrator, Kubernetes, Shell Scripting
• Relevant certifications: Red Hat, Microsoft (Azure, Microsoft 365 Admin Expert), Fortinet NSE4
• Min three years experience in IT Technical position - IT Infrastructure, Hardware, Servers and Networks
• Strong understanding of network protocols, routing, switching
• Experience with Proxmox and scripting (PowerShell, Python advantageous)
• Self-motivated, problem-solver, and able to work independently
• Own reliable transport and drivers licence essential
