Grootvlei Area – Mpumalanga: This is a start up and the successful candidate will be responsible to lead operations at a 5,000m² high-tech greenhouse Proof of Concept (POC) site in Grootvlei, Mpumalanga

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Extensive direct professional experience in emerging/frontier markets required; experience in the region applied for highly preferred
  • 10+ years of professional experience in greenhouse farming
  • 5+ years' experience in farm management
  • Tomato experience is preferred.
  • Great at building and maintaining relationships under stress with colleagues and partners in the sector and/or region
  • Superb presentation skills: ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences
  • Experience working with a range of stakeholders and representing the company professionally
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
  • Optimize crop yield and quality.
  • Conduct daily crop observations and data reporting.
  • Manage climate, irrigation, fertilization, and crop protection.
  • Lead and supervise on-site teams to ensure timely execution of cultural practices.
  • Coordinate sowing schedules and crop cycles.
  • Trial new varieties for performance improvement.
  • Maintain greenhouse infrastructure in collaboration with maintenance teams.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Engage with external stakeholders as needed.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations on Proof-of-Concept technology for future builds.
