Overview

Senior Systems Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer – 3 month contract, Cape Town (Remote)

This is a 3-month fixed-term contract role for a Senior Systems Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer to join a leading iGaming company.

Based in Cape Town, the contract pays RK – RK per month.

Requires extensive experience with VMware, Linux, Windows, monitoring systems, troubleshooting, and strong networking.

The role involves implementing and maintaining complex systems in regulated markets to ensure high availability and performance, while ensuring documentation is maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Systems Administration : Manage and maintain virtualized environments using VMware and Nutanix; oversee the administration of Linux and Windows servers; ensure the stability, performance, and scalability of VMware and Nutanix estates.
  • Monitoring and Performance Tuning : Implement and manage monitoring tools to ensure system availability and performance; perform regular system audits and performance tuning; analyze system logs and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Security and Compliance : Ensure systems are compliant with security policies and industry best practices; implement and manage security measures to protect data and systems; conduct regular user account reviews.
  • Collaboration and Support : Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to resolve issues and improve systems; provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers; create and maintain documentation for systems and processes.
Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Equivalent work experience or professional certifications will also be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role.
  • Extensive experience with VMware virtualization.
  • Strong proficiency in Linux (Red Hat / CentOS / Alma) and Windows Server administration.
  • Proven experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, etc.).
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as the ELK stack, DataDog, Sensu.
  • Experience with Nutanix and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Ansible and Terraform.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
  • Installation of MSSQL.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, Python); Kafka; RabbitMQ is highly desirable.
Preferred Certifications
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or other relevant AWS certifications
