A leading engineering company in South Africa seeks a Senior Process Engineer to manage process engineering activities for gold sector projects. The role requires a degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering and 7+ years of experience in mineral processing operations and design. The successful candidate will autonomously conduct detailed process designs and ensure project compliance with client and industry standards. This position offers the opportunity for substantial career advancement within a dynamic environment.
Process engineering and discipline project design activities relating to concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, EPCM and EPC projects within the gold sector.
Applicants should have proven experience in processing plant operations, design, and commissioning.
Management experience and a professional membership with SAIMM would be advantageous.
Exposure to projects in South Africa and across the African region is essential.

Autonomously carry out innovative detailed process designs following good engineering practices
Ensure continuous improvement, lessons learned, value engineering, fit for purpose and latest technologies are implemented.
Ensure that the discipline designs are carried out in accordance with client standards and specifications, industry standards and the relevant legislation (quality of design).
Ensure that the certified design information received from vendors, contractors and consultants is relevant and accurate.
Carry the responsibility for the engineering discipline sign off.
Provide design interface between disciplines including vendors and external entities.
Provide process inputs for studies and proposals.
Provide engineering support to the site team.
Ensure the effective (peer) review and approval of process designs.
Proficient in analytically assessment of mineral process applications and effectively reporting on the analysis
Provide input into all SHE matters, actively participate and promote a total safety culture.
Take responsibility of all process engineering deliverables with a high level of accuracy and quality.
Manage the time schedule, quality, risk and scope of process deliverables and activities within the larger project or study.
Display effective management of time.
Ensure proper change management procedure is adhered to.
Ensure that reports are structured, accurate, complete and well presented.
Display proactive communication with project team with respect to discipline interface and problem solving.
Lead and / or assist with the process related commissioning activities of the project including legal appointments for commissioning activities.
Participate in the Total Safety Culture of DRA and site safety requirements.
Ensure that the installation is in accordance with the project & vendor specifications provide for the expected process functionality.
Positive disposition towards expat commissioning requirements.
Lead and manage teams (example studies, investigations, test work programs).
Provide input and direction and manage process resourcing of studies and projects.
Peer review of design deliverables of the process engineers to ensure design quality and actively solving shortcomings in designs.
Ensures that all interactions with Clients are conducted in professional and respectful manner.
Ensures that Clients are kept informed and up to date on status of project technical aspects (external and internal).
Communicate with external and internal clients on the status of the project technical aspects.
Liaises and co-ordinates with the client's discipline engineers to ensure adherence to project and client requirements and specifications.
Develop and follow up on leads through personal networks and client interaction.
Ensures that DRA remains the Clients engineering service provider of choice through continuous and informal marketing of DRA's capability.
Takes ownership for personal development (within industry through registration and within company).
Drives personal development with regards to Professional Registration with ECSA and recognise and relevant engineering and business affiliations and institutions.

Degree or Diploma in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering (Essential)
Professional Engineering Technologist or Professional Engineer (Advantageous)
Mineral processing operations / management 7+ Years (Essential)
Mineral processing, design and commissioning 7+ Years (Essential)
Knowledge of specific and relevant metallurgical processes in design and operational within the gold sector.
