Overview
Senior Manager: Audit Training role at BDO South Africa.
Reporting to the Head of Training and the Head of Audit, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality accounting, audit, and power skills training across formats (online, face‑to‑face, or coaching in the field).
Responsibilities
- Delivery of high-quality accounting, audit, and power skills training courses online, face‑to‑face, or coaching in the field.
- Designing course content based on needs assessments while addressing all four learning styles.
- Updating course content to reflect changes in accounting standards, auditing standards, legislation, audit methodology and quality findings.
- Present during focus group sessions for content updates.
- Engage with stakeholders across the business for input into content.
- Address trainee queries related to audit methodology in training sessions and ad‑hoc coaching at clients.
- Facilitate the training feedback process and provide post‑course support.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with audit staff to meet their needs and expectations.
- Improve systems, processes and procedures for the department.
- Deliver training and assess residual competencies.
- Travel regionally and within Africa as required.
- Coordinate training activities, including maintaining the training calendar and training manual.
- Assist with maintenance of the Learner Management System where needed.
- Assist with the digitalisation of courses (eLearning creation and updates, reviews, or maintenance).
- Prepare / review communications and reports for relevant stakeholders.
- Manage administrative responsibilities key to the training department.
- Remain practical in the field and may manage 1-2 audit clients at a senior manager level.
Qualifications and Experience
- CA (SA) 4-5 years post‑audit articles experience, minimum
- Excellent knowledge of International Auditing Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards
- Exposure to IFRS for SMEs (desirable)
- SAICA Assessor certificate (desirable)
- Advanced Excel skills (preferable)
- Some formal training or coaching experience (preferable)
- Experience with online training delivery platforms (MS Teams, etc.) (desirable)
- Experience with creation of eLearnings using Articulate or similar (desirable)
- Experience working with a learner management system (LMS, etc.) (desirable)
