Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer required in Bellville.
The IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for configuring, supporting, and maintaining the hybrid IT infrastructure environment, which spans on-premises and Microsoft Azure platforms. The role focuses on stability, performance, security, and availability of infrastructure services, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, upgrades, and disaster recovery readiness.
This role suits an experienced infrastructure engineer who is technically hands-on, comfortable operating in an enterprise environment, and able to take ownership of complex infrastructure components.
Location: Tygervalley, Cape Town.
Salary: R616 000 per annum
Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or a related field
- Minimum of 5 year’s experience
- Strong practical experience in server administration, virtualization, and networking
- Exposure to enterprise or regulated IT environments
- Familiarity with ITSM practices (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
- Strong documentation and troubleshooting skills
- Certifications (Advantageous, not mandatory)
- ITIL
- Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305)
- HP or Aruba Networking certifications
- Linux certifications (LPIC-1, RHCSA)
- Cisco CCNA or CCNP (beneficial but not essential)

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Hybrid Infrastructure Operations
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers across on-premises and Microsoft Azure environments.
- Administer HP server and blade infrastructure, including associated storage technologies.
- Manage Hyper-V environments, including clustering and failover configurations.
- Perform server patching, firmware updates, and upgrades in line with IT standards and change processes.
- Monitor infrastructure performance and proactively address capacity, availability, and performance risks.
- Network Infrastructure
- Configure and support LAN, WAN, VPN, and internet connectivity.
- Administer HP / Aruba network switches and assist with perimeter and internal network segmentation.
- Configure and manage Azure networking components, including VNets and Network Security Groups (NSGs).
- Support hybrid connectivity between on-prem and cloud environments (VPN and ExpressRoute).
- Collaborate with security teams to ensure network compliance and resilience.
- Cloud & Microsoft Services
- Support integration between on-premises infrastructure and Microsoft Azure services.
- Administer Active Directory, Azure AD, DNS, and Microsoft 365 services, including SharePoint Online and Remote Desktop Services.
- Contribute to cloud migration, optimisation, and modernisation initiatives.
- Backup, Recovery & Continuity
- Implement and manage VEEAM backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Perform backup verification and recovery testing.
- Participate in, or lead (for senior level), disaster recovery testing initiatives.
- Support & Escalation
- Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for infrastructure-related incidents.
- Participate in standby and after-hours support as required.
- Conduct root cause analysis and contribute to problem management and service improvement.
- Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, including SOPs, system diagrams, and configuration records.
- Report on infrastructure health, risks, and capacity to management.
- Senior-level candidates will mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing.
