Job summary

A global engineering company seeks an experienced Electrical Inspector in Cape Town, South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years in the Energy sector. Responsibilities include witnessing inspections, maintaining quality records, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Proficiency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of additional languages is a plus. Preferred safety certifications for offshore projects will be advantageous. This role is contractual and offers an opportunity to work on significant projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an equivalent role in the Energy sector.
  • Certificates related to safety (e.g., BOSIET) for offshore projects (preferable).

Responsibilities

  • Witnessing electrical tests, controls and inspections.
  • Executing inspections on materials, equipment, and construction activities on site.
  • Issuing Quality Records and Non-Conformance Reports as necessary.
  • Checking cable laying and cable identification.
  • Performing all relevant loop checks.
  • Updating as-built drawings.
  • Performing punch-listing operations.
  • Inspecting power transformers, switchboards, and lighting systems.

Skills

Good knowledge of foreign languages: English, preferable French and Spanish
Good knowledge of PC usage
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of International Quality Standards
Knowledge of safety legislation and regulations
Ability to perform well under pressure
