Job summary

A leading company in Johannesburg seeks a Senior Bookkeeper to oversee comprehensive bookkeeping up to the audit stage. The successful candidate will manage financial records, assist with inventory control, and ensure compliance with required accounting practices. Candidates must possess a Matric Certificate and relevant bookkeeping qualifications with a minimum of 10 years of experience.

Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience in Senior Bookkeeping.
  • Experience with Multinational and Intercompany Transactions is an advantage.
  • Experience with Foreign Exchange transactions is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete and accurate financial records up to the Balance Sheet.
  • Prepare bank transactions, payments, and reconciliations.
  • Manage inventory control systems and processes.

Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for bookkeeping up to audit stage, along with inventory processing and control.

Requirements :

  • Matric Certificate
  • Relevant Diploma / Certificate in Bookkeeping / Finance or related fields
  • 10 years of experience in Senior Bookkeeping
  • Proven experience with SAGE Evolution Accounting Package – an advantage
  • Tenacity, flexibility, and ability to meet strict deadlines are essential
  • Experience with Multinational and Intercompany Transactions – an advantage
  • Experience with Foreign Exchange and Rate of Exchange transactions – an advantage
  • Own transport is required

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to) :

  • Maintain complete and accurate financial records up to the Balance Sheet
  • Manage general ledger and lead sheet
  • Process and reconcile Accounts Receivables & Customer ledger
  • Process and reconcile Accounts Payables & Supplier ledger
  • Prepare bank transactions, payments, and reconcilements. Handle Foreign Exchange Transactions
  • Reconcile credit card statements and expense claims
  • Process monthly journals and adjustments
  • Maintain fixed asset register
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, journals, and reconciliations

Inventory Management :

  • Manage inventory control systems and processes
  • Experience with companies holding inventory – an advantage
  • Coordinate customer liaison for spares orders
  • Handle quotations, orders, invoices, stock preparation, and distribution
  • Plan and oversee stock takes

Other :

  • Visa and travel planning and control
  • Provide back-office support and perform ad hoc administrative duties
  • Manage general office supplies – refreshments, canteen, and stationery
