A well-established organisation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Bookkeeper in KwaZulu-Natal. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, and preparing financial reports. The ideal candidate will have a relevant tertiary accounting qualification and at least 5 years of bookkeeping experience. Strong knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office is essential. A background in construction or mining is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate financial records by establishing and managing accounts while ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements and accounts.
  • Develop and maintain financial systems, including charts of accounts and bookkeeping policies and procedures.
  • Verify, allocate, and post transactions to ensure data accuracy.
  • Balance accounts through timely reconciliation of entries.
  • Prepare financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising key account information and trends.
  • Support team success by contributing to related tasks and projects as required.
  • Manage client invoicing, billing, and timely processing of payments.
  • Assist in audits and provide relevant documentation.
  • Handle online banking and ensure efficient processing of financial transactions.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Relevant tertiary Accounting qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in full-function bookkeeping.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Pastel or similar) and strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Solid understanding of general ledger structures, age analysis of accounts, and online banking processes.
  • Background in construction, plant hire, or mining sectors would be an advantage.
  • SAIPA is beneficial.
