About the job Senior Associate: Litigation - Boutique Law Firm - Sandton

Our client, a prestigious boutique law firm based in Sandton, is seeking an experienced Senior Associate: Litigation to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload of litigation matters across various legal areas, ensuring cases progress efficiently from inception to resolution.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor deadlines closely to ensure timely filing and court appearances.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law to inform litigation strategies and provide accurate, well-supported legal advice to clients.
  • Prepare and draft a wide range of legal documents, including but not limited to pleadings, motions, affidavits, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legal and procedural requirements, including court rules, filing deadlines, and ethical obligations.
  • Oversee administrative tasks related to litigation, including maintaining up-to-date case files, tracking billable hours, and preparing billing statements in line with firm policies.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to clients on a wide range of litigation matters, including contract disputes, personal injury claims, property disputes, labor law issues, and other areas of civil and criminal litigation.

Key Requirements:

  • Admitted attorney with an LLB / BA Law / BCom Law degree.
  • 4-6 years PQE.
  • Strong background in litigation from a large firm.
  • In-depth knowledge of High Court and Magistrates Court processes.
  • Criminal law experience beneficial.
