About the Role
The Intermediate Sec Ops Engineer will be responsible for collaborating with clients and internal teams to gather requirements, define project scopes, and help develop architectural designs for AWS deployments.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to gather requirements, define project scopes, and help develop architectural designs for AWS deployments.
- Implement security measures and best practices to protect AWS environments, including identity and access management, data encryption, and compliance.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members, assisting in their professional growth and skill development.
- Build a career progression path and understand what you would like to specialize in.
- Ticket triage.
- Attend customer transition meetings.
- Update and deploy remote security monitoring code for systems according to security principles.
- Configure a wide range of security tools across multiple environments.
- Update security processes and knowledge base documentation.
- Handle customer service requests.
- Handle internal service requests.
- Review compliance reports.
- Threat hunting.
- Create training documentation and train colleagues where required.
AWS Certifications and Core Skills
- AWS Certification (eg : AWS Security Specialty, AWS Solution Architect Associate) - ESSENTIAL.
- IAM
- Best practice and knowledge of identity types (users, roles, groups)
- Permission troubleshooting
- Least privilege
- SSM
- Monitor EC2 state and compliance
- Managed deployments using Run Documents
- S3 - Lifecycle management, access policies, replication, logging
- Cloud Watch Logging
- Cloud Watch Metrics
- Cloud Trail
- DNS – setup and troubleshooting of DNS and routing of traffic
- Networking, including VPC Flow Logs.

- High-level understanding of how EKS works
- Knowledge of Control Tower, SCP, Guardrails, SSO
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
- Basic knowledge of management tools such as AWS CLI.
- Familiarity with Dev Ops practices and CI / CD pipelines.
- Troubleshooting issues and providing support for AWS managed services
- Third-party security services, eg, Cloudflare.
- Familiarity with networking concepts, including TCP / IP, DNS, and routing.
Programming / Scripting Languages
Proficiency in scripting languages, such as Python or Bash.
Additional Technical Skills
- Basic troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyse logs and identify issues.
- Good problem‑solving abilities and a willingness to learn new technologies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team.
- Basic understanding of managing infrastructure using Ia C, such as Terraform.
- Understand the best practices related to security.
Preferred Skills
- Two or more years of experience in a similar role
- Experience with software development.
- Familiar with the software lifecycle process.
Qualifications
- BSc. in Computer Science, Engineering or related diplomas or certification.
