Job Purpose
The Security Manager has the overall responsibility and accountability for leading and managing the security operations, including the management of the in-house security company, for the business unit in line with regulations, legislative requirements, and company standards.
Key Performance Areas
Security Planning & Delivery
- Understand the Group Security strategy and align objectives for the Unit’s Security deliverables.
- Facilitate the management and achievement of milestones of deliverables.
- Understand and integrate leading trends and technology regarding security practices.
- Conduct risk analysis of the business unit areas concerning internal and external risks and compliance management.
- Troubleshoot queries/problems received by the department.
- Manage and allocate people and operational resources.
- Align practices with EE, SD, and procurement transformation strategies to contribute towards BBBEE targets.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert on safety and security issues for the business unit.
- Report on the function's results, including Monthly Financial Review reports, Risk Reports, Month-end reports, and FIC reporting.
Security Governance & Standards
- Oversee development and updating of Security standards and processes at a unit level.
- Integrate Group standards into Unit Operations.
- Monitor and align practices with legislative compliance, gaming regulations, and security protocols.
- Implement control measures within departments to mitigate risks.
- Conduct weekly walkabouts to monitor compliance.
- Ensure staff are trained and competent against regulatory requirements.
- Work with internal stakeholders to identify and address risk areas.
- Ensure compliance for events, including security plans and staffing.
- Ensure full compliance with liquor licenses and trading hours.
Investigations & Case Management
- Quality assure investigation and audit processes.
- Allocate cases for investigation and audit.
- Plan audits and risk audit schedules.
- Conduct high-priority investigations.
- Manage evidence preservation for internal, CCMA, and criminal cases.
- Make decisions on investigation outcomes, including criminal cases or disciplinary actions.
- Follow judiciary processes to completion.
- Oversee investigations and report on risks.
- Liaise with Head Office Legal regarding subpoenas.
- Ensure continuity through proper handovers.
- Verify reports and registers.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Validate Money Laundering Reporting Officers as per FICA.
People Leadership
- Provide guidance on surveillance, compliance, and security policies.
- Motivate and lead to foster positive relationships.
- Track and improve employee engagement.
- Identify and manage training and development needs.
- Manage internal communication and ensure staff competence.
- Recruit and select talent per EE plans.
- Drive employee value proposition.
- Manage performance and coaching of managers.
- Promote a performance management culture.
Budget Management
- Manage security function budgets, costs, Capex, PIP, and forecasting.
- Prepare financial reports for the security unit.
Customer Experience Management
- Develop customer experience standards for security.
- Handle escalations and complaints effectively.
- Engage with VIP guests when needed.
- Ensure staff provide quality customer service.
- Monitor and address gaps in customer experience.
Vendor Relationship Management
- Participate in sourcing and negotiating security contracts and SLAs.
- Maintain relationships with service providers.
- Support providers in overcoming challenges.
- Manage contract deliverables and monitor costs/staffing.
Stakeholder Relationship Management
- Inform and communicate with staff and external providers.
- Share objectives, standards, and procedures.
- Report on incidents and liaise with authorities.
- Consult stakeholders and provide feedback.
- Guide on risk management.
Requirements
Education
- Grade 12
- B Tech Degree in Security Management
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years in security management, managing complex operations.
- Previous security experience advantageous.
- Certifications: PSIRA B grade (preferably A grade).
Work Conditions & Special Requirements
- Ability to work shifts as required.
- Mobility and visual/hearing capability with aids.
