A leading sales agency is seeking an On Trade Specialist to boost sales growth in Cape Town. This dynamic individual will be responsible for acquiring and maintaining client relationships in the liquor industry. Key duties include managing sales targets, engaging with decision makers, and reporting market trends. Ideal candidates will have a Grade 12 certificate, at least 3 years of experience in on-trade sales, and strong communication abilities. A salary of R35 500 is on offer.

Job description

Salesworx is seeking a dynamic individual on behalf of our client, one of the largest growers and exporters of wine from South Africa, to fill the On Trade Specialist position in Western Cape. Reporting to the General Manager: Sales & Marketing, this role is responsible for driving sales growth by acquiring and maintaining clients, meeting sales targets, and promoting innovative products to both new and existing customers.

  • A proven track record in on-consumption sales.
  • Existing relationships with key decision-makers in restaurants, pubs, and hotels.
  • The ability to leverage these connections to drive sales and brand presence.
  • Knowledge of the industry trends and competitive landscape within the hospitality sector.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for attaining and/or exceeding budgets set by management.
  • Manage key inputs that are essential to achieve desired outcomes in role through effective KPI outputs.
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships with astute commercial relationship through RTM partners and key customers.
  • Engage with key decision makers on calls through effective planning ensuring these meetings take place consistently to achieve business aspirations.
  • Visit Independent clients and selected group clients, influence orders and advise clients on new products and present opportunities within client’s business.
  • Analyse sales statistics to determine sales potential for the area and market.
  • Report on future market trends and develop new sales ideas to improve sales.
  • Be aware of competitors’ activities and market intelligence and report back to management on the competitors’ activities and market intelligence.
  • Report to management on sales and KPI’s in a concise format to highlight progress on targets and plans to close gaps while sharing insights on trade and numbers and existing opportunities.
  • Prepare sales plans on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Deal with customer and consumer complaints.
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with customers through professional account management.
  • Advise management on client and consumer reaction to products and client’s needs.
  • Undertake promotional work.
  • Manage 3rd party relationships in order to achieve sales aspirations. Examples include both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Find and contact potential new customers.
  • Ensure stock integrity within stores and when visiting stores conduct floor walks.
Requirements
  • Matric/Grade 12 certificate.
  • Post graduate qualifications are beneficial.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in on-trade sales.
  • Experience in the liquor industry with existing customer relationships beneficial.
  • Proven successful track record in the on-premises environment is a must.
  • Own reliable transport and/or be in possession of valid SA Driver’s License.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who reside in Cape Town.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for promotions (occasionally).
