Introduction
An exciting vacancy exists for an External Sales Rep to Identify, prospect, and close new customers (residential, commercial, and industrial) for solar energy solutions, promoting the company’s products, generating revenue, and contributing to market expansion in South Africa
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prospect new leads through phone calls, networking, referrals, and field visits.
- Conduct commercial presentations and technical demonstrations of solar solutions (panels, inverters, batteries, integrated systems).
- Prepare budgets and commercial proposals tailored to customer needs.
- Negotiate contracts, close sales, and follow the process through installation and commissioning.
- Maintain post-sales relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and identify upsell opportunities.
- Track KPIs such as number of prospects, conversion rate, contracts signed, and average deal size.
- Collaborate with the engineering, logistics, and installation teams to ensure timely and accurate project delivery.
- Participate in trade fairs and renewable energy events to promote the brand and generate new business.
- Stay updated on solar market trends, local policies, incentives, and regulations in the country.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Proven experience in field sales (preferably 2+ years), ideally in the energy or technology sector.
- Experience in the solar energy sector (sales or technical knowledge).
- Own vehicle for customer visits across regions.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion abilities.Results-oriented mindset with discipline and self-management.
- Availability for travel within assigned regions.
- Valid South African driver’s licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
- Technical knowledge of photovoltaic systems, system sizing, ROI, incentives, and energy regulations.
- Experience with solar project financing (leasing, PPA, credit solutions).
- Existing network in construction, real estate, commercial, or industrial sectors.
- Experience with CRM tools for lead and pipeline management.
- Sales forecasting and reporting skills.
