Summary

The sales consultant role is centred on generating sales for the business, and ensuring all related processes run smoothly so that our client’s needs are fulfilled.

Outcome

Sales targets are met:

  • The company's sales processes are followed, and sales dialogue focuses on client needs over product features.
  • Sales volumes are to be achieved in accordance with the target(s) to be discussed with a potential candidate.
  • Pipeline is managed with sufficient deals in all sales stages (so the sales targets, seat costs, commissions and sales bonuses may be managed effectively).
Primary responsibility of the sales consultant
  • The role is first to understand, comprehend and grasp all of the services and products the company offers. Training will be given upon joining.
  • Research, find and assimilate leads, prospects and potential customers in a format that leads to high sales activity and high sales closure.
  • Demonstrate superior skills in generation and prospecting of new leads/prospects.
  • Ensure new business appointments are made daily through face‑to‑face meetings.
  • Research, learn and understand the racking, shelving and mezzanine floor industry including the industrial and retail racking and shelving systems, complete ecosystem of industrial and retail storage products, material handling products, measuring and calculating of specific technical client requirements, supply and installation, after‑sales support, maintenance methodologies and utilizing CAD for designing and drawing customers' order specifications.
  • Source new clients and opportunities and manage the sales process from start to finish.
  • Demonstrate advanced product knowledge of the company's products and services to customers, prospects, clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Update all customer, lead and prospect information in the CRM system and database.
  • Provide management with weekly and monthly reports on all sales activity.
  • Meet with potential customers’ requests, requirements and needs to drive and increase the company’s sales.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with employees, managers and directors to keep the company relevant in its client base and market niche.
  • Follow up on any client queries diligently and efficiently.
  • Utilize technology to enhance the company image and drive sales.
  • Assist with all ad‑hoc and additional tasks requested by management, including training, research, stakeholder engagement and others beyond day‑to‑day sales duties.
Knowledge and experience
  • Very good understanding of sales cycles, sales stages, pipeline management and conversion ratios.
  • Ability to analyze a market and identify sales opportunities.
  • Excellent sales skills.
  • Good computer literacy in Microsoft Office and smart mobile devices.
  • Matric is mandatory.
  • Valid driver's license and own vehicle.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a successful salesperson in the industrial racking, shelving and mezzanine flooring industry.
  • Extensive cold‑calling experience.
  • Ability to source new transactions/deals continuously.
  • Schedule first and follow‑up meetings with potential clients/prospects.
  • Provide all the technical expertise in creating a solution for potential clients/prospects.
  • Analyse, assess, translate, design and structure a solution for a prospect in an acceptable format.
  • Utilize CAD software.
  • Create a bill of materials.
  • Negotiate with the company's executives.
  • Post‑sales servicing to clients.
  • Build deep market and client relationships.
