Job summary

A financial services firm is seeking an experienced accountant in Pretoria to handle financial accounting, compliance, and client advisory tasks. The ideal candidate will have a Bcom Degree and completed SAIPA Articles, alongside strong accounting principles and software proficiency. This role requires fluency in English and Afrikaans, as responsibilities include preparing financial statements, handling taxation matters, and providing insights to clients. Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for SMEs.
  • Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, and other tax returns.
  • Assist with income tax calculations and submissions for individuals and businesses.
  • Liaise with SARS on tax-related matters.
  • Assist external auditors by providing supporting documents and explanations.
  • Conduct internal control reviews and risk assessments for clients.
  • Process payroll, including statutory deductions and EMP201/EMP501 submissions.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and payroll regulations.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to clients.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Respond to client queries and provide general accounting support.
  • Maintain and update financial records in cloud-based systems.

Skills

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and tax legislations
Proficiency in accounting software: Sage, Xero, Pastel or Quickbooks
