Role Responsibilities

Zutari Tshwane is currently looking for Engineer’s Representatives (Resident Engineers) to join their team, responsible for contracts management within the project’s environment, with a special focus on SANRAL Projects.

Minimum Requirements
  • BSc or BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering
  • Pr Eng or Pr Tech Registration with
  • Pr CMP Registration with SACPCMP will be an advantage
  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in construction and/or projects site supervision
  • Experience as Engineer’s Representative on SANRAL project/s is required
  • Thorough working knowledge of specifications and Bill of Quantities (COLTO / COTO, SANS 1200, project specific etc.)
  • Thorough working knowledge of Conditions of Contract (FIDIC 1999, NEC 3/4, GCC 2010/2015 and JBCC) will be beneficial
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills required
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills
  • Excellent client relation skills

In addition to the above, the Applicant is required to submit his experience on three of his most recent projects (<10 years ago) in line with the parameters below:

  • Relevance of Experience (Client)

The experience should be with Client bodies being either South African National Roads Authority and/or Concessionaire and/or Provincial Authority (indicate relevant client body for each of three projects).

  • Relevance of Experience (Project Type)

The Applicant is required to have experience as the Engineer’s Representative (Resident Engineer) in “Development” Improvement” (Road upgrades) and/or “Development New Facilities” (New Road Infrastructure projects) (indicate relevant project type for each of three projects). Structural Experience would be beneficial.

Project Delivery
  • Supervise all construction and installation activities on site and monitoring contractor's progress
  • Technical input to the progress reports on all works being carried out at the site, and offer regular update on progress and measurements for work complete
  • Review and monitor equipment, site staff and work methods, identify deficiency of performance before the occurrence of delays and quality issues
  • Manage and report on all commercial matters: Contractor’s invoice, issue Non-Conformance Reports, Site Instructions, record and justify delays or claims, variation ordered, address non-conformance and discrepancies
  • Ensure site work, laboratory tests and designs are carried out in accordance with specification requirements, codes, and standards, HSE regulations
  • Ensure proper record keeping of all corresponding information are maintained up to date
  • Manage operation and staff on site
  • Ensure strict safety and security regulations compliance, and that environmental protection measures during construction are properly carried out
  • Support Contracts Engineer and Client in delivering project in line with requirement, time frame and meets quality requirement
  • Apply Site Management System based on ISO 9001 QMS
