Overview

Role Summary

The Quality Inspector reports to the Quality Manager and is based at our Spartan, Kempton Park office. The core purpose is to provide reliable quality assurance and control, supporting product compliance and performance.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect fabricated items in-process and at final stage; read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Identify, record nonconformances and generate NCRs; follow up on effective action closure.
  • Review and approve quality control plans and technical procedures before manufacturing start.
  • Perform inspection activities per the quality control plan (hold/witness/surveillance points) in collaboration with external parties.
  • Liaise continuously with third‑party inspectors throughout the project and conduct supplier inspections, providing concise feedback.
  • Build data books as per customer requirements and ensure proper filing of all product documents.
  • Collaborate with engineering on drawing and product‑related issues; ensure full traceability of all parts manufactured and inspected.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the company Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO standards.
  • Maintain calibrated measuring equipment and adhere to Health, Safety and Environmental aspects.
  • Report all instances of non‑adherence or unsafe conditions.
  • Adhere to all company rules, regulations, policies, procedures and work instructions.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Grade 12 or equivalent; mechanical engineering diploma with a focus on boiler‑making an advantage.
  • Level 1 or 2 Welding and Fabrication Inspector qualification is essential.
  • Coating Inspector qualification and ISO knowledge are advantageous.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a fabrication workshop, 3 years as a quality inspector.
