A leading manufacturing company seeks a Quality Controller in Durban North. The ideal candidate has strong HR experience and at least 5 years in quality management. Responsibilities include staff training, performance evaluations, and compliance with health and safety procedures. A good understanding of ISO and effective communication skills are essential. my client is a leading manufacturing company needing an experienced Quality Controller with strong experience in HR as well. Ideally to start 1st Feb so the client wants to do interviews in November to appoint before the year ends.
Carry out and document Induction on company rules and polices for all new staff members. Carry out induction training on job descriptions. Ensure work related induction is carried out by the Unit Manager and documented. Carry out planned training and training when identified as well as training of staff in terms of their job scope.
Evaluation of staff on performance. Updating of training matrix for HR. Arrange for management to carry out annual performance review meetings, assist with the documentation of the meeting, tracking staff progress as well as counselling for under performance. Feedback of performance reviews, monitoring and tracking progress. Post new positions on relevant employment platforms, identify suitable candidates for the position and arrange appointments for interviews. Arrange contract of employment for new employee this includes casual and fixed term contracts and contract renewals with evaluations of employee and timely feedback of outcome. Assist with drawing up job description and KPI's. Assist with Loading of employees onto Impro and Jarrison. Assist with updating leave on Jarrison and filing leave forms once accounts has captured. Ensure employee info is updated on Jarrison. Tracking staff working hours and deal with late coming or abuse of breaks. Disciplining staff - Assist and / or issue corrective action warnings / Counselling / Poor performance counselling, report feedback to management. Assist with Chair Disciplinary hearings.
Fire department and Insurance. Signing of Batch Documentation COA / COC + Spec attached to orders when despatched. Ensuring / Managing that the required SOP / Procedures / Documents are compiled. Ensure / Managing that the reporting and recording of non-conforming products are carried out and carry out investigation when problems occur and provide feedback with conclusion on root cause and accountability and to assist with procedure for process solution to prevent it from happening again.
Ensure / Managing that the non-conformance procedures are followed through. Ensure / Managing that all departments housekeeping requirements are met.
Check list in place and audited. Skills Matrix to determine training priorities needed for the correct staff where it is needed the most in conjunction with management and skills. Plan and execute training, including assessments and QMS. Adhere to all Quality, Health and Safety rules and regulations as prescribed by the Company. Complete new product development documentation and ensure documentation is updated as changes are made and samples retention is documented and stored accordingly. Cleanroom procedures are followed including gowning. Attend to any other tasks as instructed by management.
Matric HR Training college / various courses / on the job training. Has been working in the QA department and has attended courses in QA management Experience : Minimum 5 years' experience. Has been involved with interviewing people for new positions KPI and performance reviews. Training of staff on QA Assisted with QMS and a good understanding of the process / experience working with quality – has attended some courses / on the job training. Coming from a manufacturing background would be beneficial.
Must have a good knowledge the laws that govern employment. Must have an understanding on how to manage people. Good knowledge and understanding of the purpose of a QMS and ISO. Have a good understanding of the recruitment process and interviewing. Must have experience or been involved in effectively chair a disciplinary hearing. Must be able to multitask. Ability to communicate at all levels - both written and verbal. Good negotiating skills. Good listening skills. Conflict and problem-solving skills. Must be able to work as a team and on their own. Speak Zulu is an advantage. Self-motivated. Attention to detail is very important. Good computer skills especially Word and Excel. Initiate counselling, disciplinary action in line with company procedures. Dismissal of employees in line with company procedures. To keep the QMS system up to dated including all relevant documents. Do ongoing training on updates and refresher training. Suggestion to improve the QMS. Keep all product development documentation up to date. Sample retention for all departments.
Salary will depend on experience, and we can offer between R to R per month cost to company.
Working hours will be from 7 : 00am to 4 : 30pm Monday to Thursday and Friday we close at 2pm.
The job description is very detailed and might seem overwhelming but I can assure you if you have worked in both HR and Quality Management they should cope as our systems are very good and we will invest in training the person as every company has its own QM system that they would have to learn, HR is a little easier.
In the past we have sent people on QM courses, and we can train them as well.
You must have a good understanding of what QA management (ISO) entitles and have good knowledge of HR.
Basically, a person with lots of energy and looking for the opportunity that wants to further their career in both fields.
