Overview
Procurement Specialist Our client in the energy industry, based in Bellville, is seeking a proactive Procurement Specialist to join their team. In this role you’ll work closely with project engineers across multiple projects, taking full responsibility for all procurement activities. From sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to managing purchase orders, logistics, and budget approvals, you’ll play a key part in ensuring smooth delivery and operational efficiency. Responsibilities
- Procurement Activities: Requesting quotes from multiple suppliers; Ensuring that the quotations correspond with the bill of quantity (BOQ); Create and update purchase orders (PO’s) & ETAs on the BOQ and delivery schedule; Placing orders with suppliers; Updating budget overspend and required approvals; Verify budget allocations are in line with quotes; All logistic requirements for projects; Orders delivered to site within given ETA’s; Requesting delivery notes from site; Following up on back-order items; Ensure consistent & clear communication with the project engineers and sub-contractors; Receive deliveries / orders from suppliers and allocate them to various project engineers; Request volumetric dimensions from suppliers as well as quotes from couriers ensuring they are packed and ready for collection; Ensure remaining stock is returned to the warehouses and accurately completed requisitions
Health and Safety Responsibilities
- Compile site safety files for projects & procure required PPE required on site
- Booking medicals, working at heights & OHS training and ensuring they are renewed timeously
Administrative Support
- Assisting the PMs with all procurement and logistics related queries
- Complete monthly timesheets for the PM’s & installers
- Assisting finance with queries related to PO’s and credit notes
- Work closely with warehouse managers & assisting them with requisitions
Requirements
- Completed Degree/National Diploma in Commerce, Supply Chain/Logistics/ Business management or similar
- 2 - 3 years’ relevant work experience in Procurement environment
- Ability to cope well under pressure and to meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment
- Adaptable and able to grasp and interpret technical processes and procedures efficiently
- Excellent planning abilities
- Meticulous with strong attention to detail and accuracy in the execution of duties and to see all tasks through to the end
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment and willing to put in extra effort and time when the team is under pressure
- Excellent time management skills and able to prioritize task effectively and efficiently
- Strong communication skills, both verbal & written
