Job Summary:

To take responsibility for the safe and efficient transportation and transferring of patients between various areas of the hospital and ensuring the safe movement of medical equipment.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• 1 years’ experience in a hospital setting

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Take direction from the relevant department /unit in relation to patient transfer duties.
• Perform porter duties on time and at the designated place of duty.
• Maintain confidentiality of all matters.
• Deal and engage with patients and staff in a courteous and effective manner.
• Ensure the correct collection and delivery of x-rays, medical reports or relevant documents throughout the hospital.
• Assist in the lifting and transportation of patients according to relevant CHG standards and policies.
• Safely and efficiently move trolleys, wheelchairs and equipment between different departments.
• Deliver files and other documentation as requested within the hospital.
