A consulting firm in South Africa is seeking an experienced Strategic Business Partner to provide HR leadership and ensure compliance with labor regulations. Responsibilities include workforce planning, performance management, and cultural transformation. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of HR experience, including 5 years in a senior role, and relevant qualifications. Knowledge of industrial relations and health & safety management is essential.
Act as a trusted advisor to local leadership, providing expert guidance on workforce planning, performance management, employee relations, and organizational development. Influence decision‑making to align people strategies with business objectives.
Lead compliance efforts with South African labor laws, including the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, and Employment Equity Act. Ensure HR policies, contracts, and practices reflect current legal requirements and best practices.
Support and execute global EVP‑aligned projects tailored to the South African context. Collaborate cross‑functionally to enhance employee experience, engagement, and retention through initiatives in diversity & inclusion, wellness, and career development.
Drive cultural transformation and change initiatives, including values engagement, leadership development, and organisational design. Champion a high‑performance, inclusive, and compliant workplace culture.
Facilitate upskilling, reskilling & cross‑skilling through career path development & advancement and arranging training & development interventions.
Responsible for ensuring workplace safety and legal compliance through effective management of Health & Safety programs. Key duties include overseeing legal appointments, coordinating mandatory safety training (e.g., H&S Supervisors, Firefighters, First Aiders), and managing PPE procurement. The role maintains evacuation plans, conducts risk assessments, leads incident investigations, and ensures accurate documentation of safety registers, visitor logs, and compliance certificates.
Ensure organisational compliance with key regulatory and statutory requirements, including Employment Equity and COIDA registrations with the Department of Labour. Manage submissions for the Annual Training Report (ATR) and Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) under MICTSETA to recover Skills Development Levies. Implement and maintain ISO‑aligned policies and processes. Oversee POPI & PAIA compliance, including registration of Information Officers with the Information Regulator.
Ensure accurate and timely payroll submission by providing complete and compliant employee data across all regions. Responsibilities include managing payroll and leave systems (Xero, Briddge, Insperity, Nutun), coordinating annual salary reviews and ad‑hoc adjustments, processing travel claims, onboarding and off‑boarding employees, updating personal information, and overseeing leave administration and governance. The role ensures alignment with regional financial managers and global governance requirements.
