Job description

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for managing and coordinating the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a portfolio of external clients. Operating at a level above the Payroll Associate this role involves taking ownership of more complex payroll tasks supporting Associates and ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements. The Payroll Administrator plays a key role in maintaining client satisfaction and supporting the efficiency of the payroll function.

Responsibilities :

Independently manage end-to-end payroll processing for assigned external clients on a monthly bi-weekly or weekly basis

Review payroll inputs and calculations for accuracy including earnings deductions taxes benefits and leave balances

Submit EMP201 UIF PAYE and other required statutory returns on time (or prepare for review if approval is required)

Assist in EMP501 and annual payroll reconciliations and submissions

Respond to and resolve client payroll queries in a professional and timely manner

Assist in onboarding new payroll clients and maintaining client-specific payroll schedules and documentation

Support Payroll Associates by providing guidance and reviewing their input when required

Liaise with internal teams and external bodies (e.g. SARS HMRC and Department of Labour) to ensure compliance and resolve issues

Monitor compliance with payroll-related legislation and keep up to date with changes

Identify and recommend areas for improving payroll processes and client service delivery

Requirements

Minimum 2 3 years payroll experience ideally including processing for multiple clients

Strong understanding of payroll legislation and statutory requirements (SARS HMRC UIF SDL PAYE)

Proficient in payroll software and Microsoft Excel

High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills

Strong communication skills and a client service mindset

Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
