Job description
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To manage and direct the short-term planning activities of the organisation to ensure safe production and the achievement of production targets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Grade 12 with Maths and Science or NQF 4 equivalent is essential
  • Degree/ Diploma in Geology/Survey/Mining/Mineral Resources or NQF6/7 Equivalent is essential
  • Chamber of Mines Advance Certificate (Survey, Rock Engineering) would be desirable
  • 5 years Hard Rock Tabular Mining related experience is essential
  • 2 years mine design and scheduling experience is essential
  • 5 years experience in an underground supervisory position or related Technical Services is desirable
COMPETENCIES:
  • Knowledge of plan reading
  • Knowledge as required in the Mine and Works Act pertaining to underground working excavations
  • Report writing and presentation skills
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
  • Responsible for the Short-term Planning & Booking Tool on the shaft.
  • Responsible for the quality of the Short-term planning processes.
  • Ensures the planning process is followed in the SPBT, as per standard.
  • Responsible for Short-term Planning Calendar and meetings.
  • Analyses and reports variances, from plans to actual.
  • Ensures all required Workplace Names are available in SAP & SPBT.
  • Works closely with the Strategic Mine Planner regarding layouts and workplace names.
  • Communicates any new layouts, mine design, required for the short-term plan with the Strategic Mine Planner.
  • Creates new and ad how workplaces in StudioUG.
  • Uploads workplaces for the short-term plan to UMM.
  • Ensures the inputs from all the users into the SPBT are to standard. Takes action if not to standard.
  • Ensures the quality and completeness of the A3 planning sheets before the Mine overseer planning meeting.
  • Updates monthly Panel status, reporting, signoffs.
  • G-Sheet and other meetings, with related inputs.
