Job description

An established and respected automotive manufacturing company based in Port Elizabeth is seeking a qualified Millwright to join their maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring optimal uptime and reliability of production equipment through preventative and corrective maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine and preventative maintenance on machinery and production equipment

  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults

  • Perform breakdown repairs efficiently to reduce downtime

  • Calibrate, install and maintain motors, pumps, conveyors, presses, and production lines

  • Execute fault-finding using PLC systems and basic instrumentation

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards

  • Complete job cards, maintenance logs and shift reports accurately

  • Participate in continuous improvement and TPM initiatives

Minimum Requirements
  • Recognised Trade Test Certificate Millwright (Olifantsfontein or equivalent, MERSETA-accredited)

  • Matric / Grade 12 with Maths & Science

  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Millwright in an automotive or manufacturing environment

  • Strong experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems

  • Basic PLC fault-finding and inverter knowledge (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley)

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and perform standby duties when required

  • Must have a clear criminal record and valid South African ID

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Physically fit and medically fit for duty
