Qualifications
- An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a medical practitioner, HPCSA registration as an independent medical practitioner or eligible for HPCSA registration as independent medical practitioner within 3 months of the closing date of this advert.
- Current registration with HPCSA for 2025/2026.
- Must be a South African citizen or permanent resident.
- Up to date BLS and ACLS certification.
Responsibilities
- Perform Commuted Overtime.
- Clinical training, teaching, and assisting in the examination of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- The incumbent will be responsible for interviewing, investigating, diagnosing, and overseeing the treatment of patient-related administrative duties.
- Participation in departmental meetings, journal clubs, case presentations, lectures, and ward rounds.
- Ensure that administration and record keeping is done in the department.
- Undertaking research.
- Attending and presenting at academic meetings.
- Encourage good working relationships between colleagues and departments.
- Availability for ongoing assessments.
- Signing annual performance agreements and availability for quarterly reviews.
Notes
- These positions will be joint appointments between the Gauteng Department of Health and the following academic institutions: University of Witwatersrand / University of Pretoria and/ Sefako Makgatho University.

- Shortlisted candidates will receive communication from HR to submit certified copies of educational qualifications and other relevant documents not older than 6 months on or before the day of the interview.
- Personnel Suitability Checks (criminal checks, citizenship checks, qualification verification, company directorship, social media, financial record checks, reference checks) must be conducted prior to appointment.
- Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification must furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from SAQA. Applicants with foreign qualifications remain responsible for ensuring that their qualifications are evaluated by SAQA.
- Registrars will be required to rotate between the different institutions.
- Preference will be given to South African citizens.
- The performance of normal and commuted overtime is not mandatory; however it will be based on the operational needs of the hospitals.
