Job description

Minimum requirements for the role :

  • Must have an Honours degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a similar field.
  • Minimum 10 years of demonstrable experience in third-party storage and distribution of chemical raw materials.
  • At least 35 years of experience in inventory management, preferably in the chemical raw material third-party warehousing and distribution industry.
  • Strong understanding of chemical safety standards and regulatory compliance is essential.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., JDE, Salesforce, etc.) is required.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for :

  • Holding monthly stock meetings in South Africa and Kenya.
  • Managing and maintaining accurate inventory records across multiple warehouse locations.
  • Monitoring stock levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations, including regular cycle counts and annual physical inventories.
  • Collaborating with procurement and sales teams to forecast demand and align inventory with customer needs.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards and chemical handling regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT, GHS).
  • Overseeing the receiving, labeling, storage, and issuing of chemical materials in accordance with MSDS/SDS requirements.
  • Implementing proper storage practices based on chemical compatibility and hazard classifications.
  • Utilizing ERP and inventory management systems to track real-time inventory movements and generate reports.
  • Investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies and developing corrective actions.
  • Leading, training, and managing staff involved in inventory operations.
  • Coordinating with transportation and logistics teams for timely deliveries and warehouse space optimization.
  • Managing third-party service providers under contract management.
  • Acting as a backup to the Supply Chain Engineer.
  • Assisting with SLA/SOP third-party billing and performance reviews.
  • Managing month-end reconciliations, including third-party billing.
