The successful candidate will have 7-10 years of legal secretarial experience, strong proficiency in MS Word and Excel, and knowledge of accounting and document management systems. This role involves managing legal documents, diary coordination, and communication with clients. Attractive compensation of R420,000 - R450,000 annually, based in the vibrant city of Cape Town.

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years' experience as a legal secretary.
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Aderant Expert (CMS) accounting system.
  • Knowledge of iManage document management system.

Our client, a leading commercial law firm, is seeking an experienced and highly organized Litigation Secretary to join their busy Litigation Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned legal secretary who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional support to legal professionals.

ey Responsibilities

Document Management & Production

  • Dictaphone and copy‑typing of a wide range of legal documents
  • Typing, formatting and collating notices and pleadings
  • Incorporating amendments to documents and verifying accuracy
  • Preparing resource, counsel and client files

Practice Management & Administration

  • Diary management and coordination of appointments
  • Managing telephone calls and tracking messages
  • General office and personal administration support
  • Strong organizational oversight of professional practices

Financial Administration

  • Preparing pre‑bills and billing memos for client submission
  • Managing debtors and liaising with accounts department on debt collection
  • FICA administration and compliance follow‑up

Stakeholder Liaison

  • Communication with clients, counsel, presiding officers, experts and service providers as instructed
  • Building and maintaining excellent client relationships
Requirements

Essential:

  • 7-10 years' experience as a legal secretary
  • Matric certificate
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of Aderant Expert (CMS) accounting system
  • Knowledge of iManage document management system

Advantageous:

  • Secretarial diploma / legal secretarial diploma / paralegal qualification
