We are looking for a Legal Counsel with 2-5 years post-articles experience who is adaptable, solution‑driven, and is passionate about leveraging their legal expertise to help improve our various services.
Have a positive impact on our clients and team by ensuring our legals are watertight.
Collaborate with our Product and Operations teams to ensure new and existing services are always compliant, as we aim to sit on the cutting edge of international monetary movements.
Work closely with our Key Individual to ensure we meet regulatory requirements (e.g. FAIS, FICA, etc).
Provide legal guidance when setting up new divisions or products and assist with business strategy and company restructuring if necessary.
In time, build out our legal division to ensure the above responsibilities can be met as the business scales.
Share strategic legal guidance with senior management to enable high‑level decision making.
Consult with external lawyers where specialist input is required.
Engage with clients and third‑parties when legal representation is required.
2-5 years post-articles experience at a reputable SA law firm or proven in‑house experience (ideally in a fintech).
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and admission as a legal practitioner / attorney.
Working knowledge and experience of legislation / regulations relevant to our services (Exchange Controls Manual, FAIS, FICA, POPIA, etc).
Competent at not only identifying risks, but also putting forward solutions that align with business goals.
Excellent at simplifying complex legal matters into crisp and concise summaries and recommendations (including when information is imperfect).
A focus on prioritisation when juggling multiple tasks to ensure best deliverability.
A start‑up mindset, comfortable with having to rapidly pivot to new products.
Comfortable working remotely with high autonomy and staying self‑motivated.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities to ensure fluid working with others.
