Job Purpose

The successful candidate will teach Physics up to Honours level in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering qualifications. The successful candidate will also contribute to curriculum development (especially at postgraduate level). Furthermore, the successful candidate will provide support to the Department in pursuit of its objectives in learning and teaching, research, Work Integrated Learning, and community engagement

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Masters (NOF level 9) qualification in Physics or equivalent
  • At least two years' relevant working experience, of which at least one year must be in a lecturing role at a higher education institution
Recommended
  • Data science and programming skills would be advantageous
  • Industry experience would be advantageous
  • Experience teaching or working in an Engineering context would be advantageous
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
  • Teach Physics subjects up to Honours level, including in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering qualifications
  • Develop reusable learning and teaching materials for the subjects being taught (e.g., lecture notes, practical, tutorials, online content)
  • Perform appropriate academic and administrative duties in the Department
  • Participate in curriculum development, particularly at postgraduate level
  • Participate in research and produce DHET-accredited publications at a rate of at least 0.5 publication units per year
  • Participate in the Quality Assurance activities of the Department
  • Assist with marketing and student recruitment activities
  • Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department
