About the Role

Join us as we leverage A.I. to release our next generation of legal operations platforms and intelligent legal tech solutions.

We're looking for an intelligent and analytical attorney who is excited about moving out of traditional legal practice and into the dynamic world of legal tech.

You will move away from pressurized deadlines and budgets to a quieter and more structured world in which you'll take on the management of Updraft's legal research and the creation of the legal content and documents that underpin Updraft's developing new products.

You will have flexible working hours and will work remotely as part of a team of experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Research: Manage legal research teams and projects to collate, review and synthesize large bodies of case law, using A.I. to maximise efficiencies.

Conduct focused research of legal process in comparative legal jurisdictions.

Legal Drafting: Draft and review legal opinions, case summaries, correspondence templates, legal agreements and compliance documents that form part of Updraft's new legal products and solutions.

New Product Development: Take operational control of legal research, legal content creation, and updates of all legal content incorporated into Updraft's new legal solutions, for South African and offshore markets.

Project Management: Lead and manage legal research and case law projects to build legal I.P. and content for new and existing legal solutions.

Solution Deployment Analyst: Oversee the quality and content of new product implementations by breaking each project down into key deliverables / business objectives and recording these on Updraft's project management software.

Essentia Criteria

Admitted Attorney, ideally with experience in a large law firm and with a sound understanding of commercial law and legal drafting.

Intelligence and Drafting Expertise: legal drafting, research and analytical solutions work requires someone with a strong intellect, strong language and writing skills, quiet focus, and an appetite for continuous learning.

Attention to Detail & Methodical Approach: A precise and methodical approach to problem-solving, ensuring that all legal documents and research results are accurate.

Experience with In-House Legal Work: Experience in an in-house legal role, working closely with business operations, will also be of benefit.

Problem-Solving & Creative Logic Skills: Ability to break down complex problems and use logical steps to design project implementations.
