Introduction

Our client is growing and seeks a Junior Solar Engineering Project Manager to help deliver high-quality solar and electrical projects across multiple sites. The role suits a diligent, self-driven professional who takes ownership, solves problems proactively, and is comfortable splitting time between office and site work.

Work arrangement: ~70% office-based, ~30% site-based, with regular travel to active projects.

Key Requirements:

  • Must be willing to relocate to Robertson, Western Cape
  • Afrikaans (written and spoken) at professional fluency—mandatory.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Drive solar and electrical projects from planning and scheduling through to handover.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and site teams to meet quality, safety, and timeline requirements.
  • Interpret and work from electrical and civil single-line diagrams.
  • Champion on-site Health & Safety compliance and best practices.
  • Manage project finances: budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and reporting.
  • Oversee procurement of all project equipment and materials.
  • Plan and supervise installation of PV modules, mounting structures, inverters, batteries, and distribution boards.
  • Track progress using project software tools and solar monitoring portals.
  • Maintain accurate admin records, data sets, and project documentation.
  • Administer engineering contracts and manage construction deliverables.
  • Contribute to electrical and solar system design activities.
  • Travel to and manage multiple project sites as needed.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • B-Tech or B-Eng in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in the solar or electrical engineering sector.
  • Hands-on project management exposure, including:
    • People and subcontractor coordination
    • Budgeting and forecasting
    • Equipment procurement
    • Construction and contract administration
    • Installation of solar and electrical systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PDF tools, and solar monitoring platforms.
  • Strong administrative, data management, and document control capability.
