Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and ambitious Junior Consultant - HR & Payroll to support the configuration, deployment, and ongoing client support of Sage People (HR & Payroll). This entry-level role offers an opportunity to develop functional and technical expertise in HR systems while contributing directly to client success, compliance, and efficiency. The Junior Consultant – HRP will partner with senior consultants, clients, and internal teams to deliver high quality implementations and support engagements across global regions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, global environments, demonstrates ownership and client service excellence, and has strong technical and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Global Support
- Operate within a global framework, ensuring adaptability to support teams, meet deadlines and participate in virtual meetings across multiple time zones based in Canada, South Africa, U.K. or the U.S., as needed.
- Collaborate with international stakeholders, adjusting to varying schedules and priorities as needed.
- Facilitate seamless communication and coordination across global teams to support HRP dept operational efficiency.
- Maintain flexibility in scheduling to accommodate time-sensitive tasks and cross-regional collaboration.
- HRP Implementation & Configuration
- Assist in configuring Sage People modules (organization structures, pay components, leave cycles, statutory rules, etc.).
- Support data migration and UAT efforts to ensure clean and compliant transitions from legacy systems.
- Track project milestones and updates using Asana and internal documentation frameworks.
- Payroll Processing & Administration
- Support processing of monthly/bi-weekly payroll runs including earnings, deductions, and third-party payments.
- Help manage integrations between HR modules and payroll to ensure alignment and data accuracy.
- Prepare compliance documentation according to local labor laws and regulations (e.g., SARS, HMRC).
- Client Support & SLA Delivery
- Contribute to post-go-live support and ongoing SLA-based service delivery through Intacct CRM.
- Resolve tickets via the HRP Service Desk and ensure consultation logs are complete and accurate.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement or client-specific enhancements.
- Time Tracking & KPIs
- Enter time daily using Intacct Time Tracking in accordance with utilization policies.
- Monitor personal performance and project efficiency against monthly KPI dashboards.
- Team Learning & Development
- Participate in monthly department learning sessions covering Sage updates and HR compliance.
- Build expertise in Sage People through company-supported upskilling and mentorship.
- Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor offerings, and market dynamics to provide value-added insights during prospect conversations.
- Contribute to the continuous refinement of HRP Consultant processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of experience in HRP implementation, consulting, or support.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
In lieu of a degree, 3+ years of relevant experience will be considered.
Understanding of basic HR/Payroll principle and statutory compliance requirements.
Experience working with clients or projects across multiple geographies.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with C-level executives and decision-makers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Exceptional organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
Preferred
- Familiarity with Sage People Payroll, HR Premiere, SBCPP, or other HRP systems
- Previous experience in a consulting firm or fast-paced SaaS environment
- Familiarity with regional HR/payroll legislation in South Africa, UKIA, or North America.
- Experience working in cloud-based project management or CRM tools (e.g., Asana, Intacct).
Work Environment
Work can take place either in an open office setting or remote setting with the expectation to travel onsite based on business and management needs.
This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work a flexible and regular full time schedule.
It requires the ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time and communicate effectively with a diverse audience in person, by phone and by computer.
