Introduction

Our client, a dynamic financial services company focused on SME funding, is looking for a Junior Credit Analyst to join their team in Randburg, Johannesburg.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with entrepreneurs and gain hands‑on exposure to commercial credit analysis while supporting the growth of small and medium enterprises across South Africa.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Engage and interview entrepreneurs to gain a deep understanding of their businesses.
  • Analyse and assess financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow).
  • Prepare detailed credit papers for review by the Credit Committee.
  • Use credit bureau data, rating tools, and economic indicators to support assessments.
  • Conduct on‑site evaluations and identify potential business or credit risks.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with SME owners and partners.
  • Support and promote the organisation's mission to empower and finance SMEs.
  • Continuously learn from peers and contribute to improving internal credit processes.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • Completed BCom degree in Commerce, Engineering, or Politics, Philosophy & Economics (PPE).
  • 1–2 years of full‑time work experience in a financial services or SME funding environment.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Detail‑oriented, proactive, and eager to learn.
  • Tech‑savvy with strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.Passion for SMEs, impact investing, and economic growth in South Africa.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning.
