Overview

We are looking for a Junior Environmental Scientist to join a respected engineering firm's contamination division. You will be involved in identifying, assessing, and remediating environmental hazards by conducting field investigations, collecting and analysing samples, and preparing technical reports. Key duties include performing fieldwork like soil and water sampling, summarizing lab results, assisting with proposals, and preparing reports for clients and regulators. The role requires strong analytical skills, a background in science, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key responsibilities
  • Fieldwork: Collect and analyse samples of soil, water, and air to identify and assess pollution sources. This can include working outdoors in various weather conditions and collecting samples with high-precision equipment.
  • Data analysis: Analyse and interpret laboratory results to evaluate environmental conditions and contamination levels.
  • Reporting: Assist in preparing technical reports and presentations to document findings, ensure compliance, and present information to clients, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Research: Conduct investigations to identify sources of pollutants and hazards.
  • Collaboration: Work with clients, laboratories, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure project compliance and success.
  • Technical assistance: Use computer software for environmental problem-solving and help coordinate with other disciplines on projects.
  • Emergency response: Participate in on-call rotations to conduct emergency sampling and site work, often requiring travel with little notice.
Requirements
