Are you ready to make your mark in the fintech space? We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Business Developer to join our dynamic Market Development team at Mukuru!

As a Junior Business Developer, you’ll report directly to the Market Development Manager and help drive the growth of our Merchant Payments (Mpay) and Wallet & VAS solutions. This role is all about spotting new business opportunities, building strong relationships, and turning great ideas into action.

You’ll collaborate across multiple departments — from Operations and Product to Marketing and Customer Service — to make sure we deliver real impact and sustainable growth in your market.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Grow our Mpay & Wallet business: Drive market penetration and help us meet our growth targets through innovative business development strategies.
  • Be a Mpay champion: Become the go-to person for your markets — bringing fresh energy, ideas, and insights to increase customer adoption and product usage.
  • Lead the charge on new opportunities: Identify potential partners, build relationships, and negotiate win-win deals that expand our network and reach.
  • Support and upskill sales teams: Train and guide our sales teams on how to position and sell Mukuru’s Mpay and Wallet products with confidence.
  • Keep operations running smoothly: Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the business runs efficiently and customers enjoy a seamless experience.
  • Drive strategic projects: Oversee implementation plans, monitor progress, and ensure key deliverables are met.

What You Bring

  • Matric / Grade 12 (Essential)
  • Related tertiary qualification (Essential)
  • 1–2 years’ experience in Market or Business Development (Essential)
  • Experience in Financial Services or Payments (Desirable)
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Business development and sales (B2C & C2C)
    • Payments and remittances
    • Contracts and commercial agreements
