Overview

Junior Branch Manager – Eduvos – Durbanville

Van Schaik Bookstore is seeking for a hands-on, customer-focused Junior Branch Manager in leading daily operations and contributing to our purpose of serving the education sector. We are seeking a driven individual who values respect, stays informed, strives for excellence, encourages creativity, and leads with integrity.

As a key representative of the Van Schaik brand, the successful candidate will promote our products and services across educational institutions.

Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Regional Manager of Van Schaik Bookstore, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Successfully expanding the Branch regarding stockholding and management thereof
  • Strictly maintaining the company’s and its suppliers return policies
  • Optimisation and stimulation of sales in the shop
  • Ordering and receiving of stationery
  • Processing of new and inter-branch stock
  • Initiate and maintain contact with lecturing staff of tertiary institutions, potential customers and representatives of publishers or their suppliers
  • Applying the company’s customer service policy at all levels
  • Maintain administrative process (customer orders, quotations, pro-formas, enquiries)
Qualifications
  • Senior certificate
  • Computer literate (MS Office suite) and MS Outlook
  • Good communication skills and excellent telephone etiquette
  • Proficient in English
  • Previous experience in an academic bookstore environment is a strong recommendation
  • A valid driver’s licence and own reliable car

Outside of the above and to be successful in this role, you should have a passion for retail, have a high attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude in building relationships, excellent organisational skills and be comfortable being hands-on when required.

We offer a market related cost to company package inclusive of a membership of a medical aid and provident fund.
