The Deutsche Internationale Schule Pretoria has a vacancy for an

IT Manager

Commencement date: 1st January 2026 or as soon as possible

Position: Full-time and permanent

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure uptime, maintenance, and updates of all servers and network devices (wireless access points, switches).
  • Manage and monitor fibre and cable connections to classrooms and network hardware.
  • Oversee and maintain firewall systems including user management, network security, and VLAN configurations.
  • Administer Windows Domain Controllers including DNS, DHCP, group policies, file permissions, and Active Directory.
  • Maintain backups, conduct daily checks of NAS systems, and ensure backup integrity.
  • Provide 2nd line IT support to school staff and students.
  • Maintain and update Microsoft 365 email accounts, groups, and SharePoint access.
  • Oversee Azure AD sync and ensure user synchronization between cloud and on-premise servers.
  • Monitor systems through Zabbix and update monitored devices.
  • Support and maintain the school’s administration system, including setup, user management, and system updates.
  • Take responsibility for the generation and technical support of school reports through the administration system.
  • Support with WebUnt is and school communication/information systems
  • Manage Airtable project setups and print management system maintenance.
  • Data maintenance and data management as instructed
  • Handle IT procurement, licensing, and budget responsibilities.
  • Maintain and monitor iPads including regular updates.
  • Support the telephone system and ensure smooth operation.
  • Manage and maintain the staff clocking system including device uptime and weekly synchronization.
  • Set up and maintain classroom teaching devices (projectors, sound systems, visualisers, interactive boards).
  • Manage CCTV systems with daily camera checks, weekly server maintenance, and video recovery when needed.
  • Ensure proper documentation and regular updates of IT records and the IT Asset Register.
  • Personnel management of the IT department
  • Technical maintenance of the homepage
  • Additional tasks as assigned by the school management and administration

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Proven experience in systems/network administration and IT support.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Azure.
  • Familiarity with school administration systems and reporting tools is an advantage
  • Hands-on experience with network infrastructure, firewalls, switches, and ac-cess points.
  • Knowledge of Zabbix, Airtable, and print management tools is a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
