Overview

Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine is a values-driven company that cares for its people. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Assore Limited. The mine is located in the Limpopo Province, about 60 kilometers from Lydenburg and 40 kilometers from Burgersfort, and is a world-class producer of Chrome Ore. The successful applicant will report to the IT Specialist or nominee.

Minimum Educational Requirements
  • Grade 12 / Standard 10 Certificate.
  • National Diploma: Information Technology.
  • Certificate: Microsoft Certified: Systems Administrator / Windows Server Hybrid Administrator (AZ-800 or AZ-801).
  • Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.
Experience
  • 3 years extensive IT Server Administrator related experience.
  • Advantageous: 5 years IT Technician experience, with extensive VMware virtualization (vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter Server).
Duties
  • Responsible for Information systems (Support, Service Provider management, Service Level Management), Infrastructure (Network, Hardware, Other IT related equipment and facilities), IT Security and IT Support Team Management.
  • Planning, installation, expansion and maintenance of network infrastructure. Develop, maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plan. Develop, implement and enforce IT policies and procedures.
  • Network & Security Management: Ensure the overall security and integrity of the network and IT systems, including firewalls, endpoint protection, and intrusion detection. Monitor, maintain, and update security policies, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity best practices. Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and risk analysis.
  • Infrastructure & Server Management: Manage and maintain all server environments, including Microsoft, cloud-based, and on-premises platforms. Oversee system backups, disaster recovery (DR) testing, and business continuity planning. Maintain up-to-date schematics, documentation, and inventory of all IT infrastructure. Ensure high availability, performance, and security of critical applications and systems.
  • Network & Connectivity: Manage, monitor, and optimize the WAN and LAN infrastructure, ensuring security, redundancy, and capacity planning. Configure and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, and access points. Identify, diagnose, and resolve network issues to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Incident & Problem Management: Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions. Maintain accurate records of incidents, resolutions, and changes in a ticketing/helpdesk system. Develop and implement proactive monitoring to detect and prevent IT disruptions.
  • Hardware & Software Lifecycle Management: Approve, procure, install, and configure new hardware, software, and IT assets based on business needs. Maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets and ensure timely hardware replacements. Oversee the decommissioning and secure disposal of outdated servers and IT equipment. Compile and manage the annual capital replacement plan for IT infrastructure.
  • Process Optimization & Reporting: Analyze system performance and generate reports on IT infrastructure efficiency, security, and uptime. Make data-driven recommendations to improve system performance, security, and scalability. Ensure IT policies, standards, and procedures are followed and updated as needed.
  • Conduct mini risk assessment in own area of work and within span of control prior to every task performed.
  • All defects and status of tools and equipment are recorded, signed and handed over to the supervisor. Relevant tools and electrical equipment are maintained and functional and utilized according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform housekeeping duties when and where required. Follow waste management procedure when necessary.
