The Strategist, together with the internal team, works hand-in-hand with the clients' marketing department and creative agency to ensure the development of effective and unique media campaigns.
The strategist immerses themselves within the client's business to understand needs and goals, as well as the brands' customers, to provide input into the media strategy.
Based on objectives, the strategist applies knowledge of media and communication platforms to identify the most appropriate vehicles for building brand awareness.
The Strategist reports to the Client Lead.
Strategy
Create strong, compelling and strategic media recommendations on how different channels can be used to integrate the consumer journey and define the role of media use to the consumer.
Deliver media solutions that drive key objectives to ensure budget efficacy and performance.
Collaborate with the client lead, planning, and implementation groups to develop budget allocations across media mix scenarios.
Use client data and technology architecture to provide strategy solutions to clients.
Understand Mindshare / GroupM trading / proprietary offerings and include them in recommendations where relevant to client objectives.
Provide insights on emerging media and new opportunities.
Build competitor / brand reviews to inform strategic actions.
Present regular media updates to clients (e.g., trends, landscapes, hot topics).
Collaborate across the Strategy Hub to drive continuous improvement.
Participate in client / vendor initiatives / workshops to ensure continuous research informs media strategies.
Analyze competitive context (SOV, SOM, pricing, distribution) to provide insights beyond quantitative data.
Use agency research and planning tools to set overall channel objectives (ARs, GRPs, reach, frequency) using Mindshare tools / methodology.
Coordinate and complete annual plans for all brands in assigned categories.
Collaborate with the implementation team to deliver reporting, insights and optimization recommendations.
Be the day-to-day contact for Clients and the Account Leadership team.
Develop strong relationships at all client levels.
Maintain relationships with media partners / vendors to contribute to best-in-class media strategy.
Stay updated on client organizational structure, planning processes, marketing calendars, and stakeholder needs.
Strengthen client relationships through high-quality deliverables and satisfaction.
Work with clients and agency partners to bring campaigns to life, including participation in regular work-in-progress meetings.
Marketing / advertising degree with a focus on strategy
Minimum 5 years' experience in business consultancy, market research / analytics, or strategic planning, including at least 3 years in media / communications planning
Media agencies experience and working knowledge of media planning
Experience working with multiple stakeholders (suppliers, agencies, media owners)
Campaign implementation and reporting experience is beneficial
Understanding of business principles and ability to interpret financial and commercial implications
Strong presentation and facilitation skills
