*Estimated Remuneration based on experience and background will be between R600 - R900k CTC PA (negotiable).
As the Site HR Manager (Mining industry) you will be responsible for managing the full human resources lifecycle for a specific mine site.
Given the high-risk and remote nature of mining, this role prioritizes safety compliance, labor relations in unionized environments, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Align HR strategies with site-specific operational goals and organizational growth.
- Labor & Industrial Relations: Manage relationships with unions, handle conflict resolution, and ensure compliance with site-specific labor laws and collective bargaining agreements.
- Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning: Oversee end-to-end recruitment to ensure the site has a steady pipeline of skilled labor and management.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all HR activities adhere to mining-specific safety regulations and national labor legislation.
- Training & Development: Identify site skill gaps and manage training programs, including mandatory safety inductions and technical upskilling.
- Compensation & Benefits: Manage site-specific payroll inputs, benefits administration, and housing/village management where applicable.
- Community & Social Responsibility: Lead social labor initiatives and community engagement efforts aligned with corporate and local regulatory goals.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: A relevant tertiary qualification (Bachelor's degree or Diploma) in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or Industrial Psychology.
- Experience: Minimum 5–10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years specifically within the mining or natural resources sector.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of industry-specific labor laws (e.g., CCMA in South Africa or equivalent regional bodies).
- Expertise in managing multi-union environments.
- Proficiency in HR Information Systems (HRIS) and payroll software.
- Attributes: High level of resilience, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in fast-paced, often remote mining environments.
