A financial technology platform is seeking a strategic Human Resource Business Partner in Cape Town. In this role, you will collaborate with sales leaders to develop a high-performing culture while coaching managers and resolving workplace conflicts. The ideal candidate will have over 6 years of HR experience in fast-paced environments, particularly within sales organizations. This position is key to ensuring team success and retention, making you a crucial part of our growth as we expand operations.
Fundwell is a financial technology platform revolutionizing the way businesses access capital. Traditional business financing often involves complex processes, hidden fees, and lengthy approval times. We're changing that and fast. Leveraging our proprietary technology, deep industry expertise, and ethical-first approach, we deliver quick, transparent, and tailored funding solutions to small and medium-sized businesses nationwide. Today, our platform is expanding beyond financing into receivables, payables, and embedded payments, giving businesses greater control over their cash flow.
Our Cape Town office has doubled in size over the past year and is home to our growing sales organization. We're looking for a strategic Human Resource Business Partner to be on the ground in Cape Town, partnering with our sales leaders and team to build a high-performing, sustainable culture as we continue to scale.
You'll be working directly with our sales leadership team to solve real challenges: helping new sales managers learn to lead for the first time, coaching reps through performance plateaus, resolving conflicts before they impact team dynamics, and ensuring our fast-paced sales environment remains energizing rather than exhausting.
How You’ll Make An Impact
Partner closely with our Cape Town sales leadership on team structure, career development, and capacity planning
Advise sales managers on performance issues, pipeline concerns, and how to coach reps effectively
Help first-time managers transition from being top individual contributors to leading teams
Build performance management processes that work for a sales environment—focused on metrics that matter, not bureaucracy
Partner with managers to identify patterns in rep performance and create targeted improvement plans
Create programs that celebrate wins and help the team learn from losses
Own retention strategy for the Cape Town office
Handle employee concerns, complaints, and workplace issues with speed and good judgment
Mediate conflicts between reps, between reps and managers, and cross-functional tensions with other departments
Build trust with the team so they feel heard and supported
Experience
6+ years in people/HR roles with significant experience supporting sales organizations
Track record of working in high-growth, fast-paced environments
Experience coaching sales managers and working through sales-specific performance challenges
Background in tech, fintech, or B2B sales environments strongly preferred
You can coach a sales manager through a difficult conversation about a rep missing quota
You give direct, honest advice to leaders and know when to push back
You balance empathy for people with accountability to results
Ability to work with high-performing, competitive personalities
Data-oriented approach to understanding performance patterns
Excellent judgment on sensitive situations—compensation disputes, performance issues, interpersonal conflicts
Comfort operating with autonomy while staying connected to global leadership
