We are currently looking for someone who would teach the academic subjects for the Grade 9 year. This will be our first Grade 9 year, so we are looking for someone who would be willing to pioneer with us in developing its programme and structure. A large portion of the academic content is Mathematics and English. Therefore, we are looking for someone with a passion for teaching these learning areas, amongst other subjects.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and implement full educational teaching and lesson plans according to the school’s requirements and based on the curriculum for students.
  • Provide individualized and small‑group targeted instruction to each student by promoting interactive and engaging learning.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of the students.
  • Maintain an organized system and accessible location for the storage and circulation of all curriculum and assessment materials.
  • Work with students one‑on‑one when they need extra help and/or attention and help students improve their study methods and habits.
  • Assess and record students’ attendance, academic progress and provide grades and regular feedback.
  • Create a safe, respectful and inclusive classroom environment by implementing the Academy’s discipline procedures.
  • Plan and execute educational in‑class and outdoor activities and educational excursions.
  • Encourage students to explore and document further learning / employment opportunities and career paths as this is their final year with the Academy.
  • Engage in regular communication with parents / guardians regarding their child’s progress and behaviour.
Qualifications And Requirements
  • Undergraduate Degree in Education / teaching or Postgraduate certificate in Education
  • 3 years’ experience teaching a class, group of learners.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management techniques
  • Knowledge of appropriate learning psychology, styles and strategies
  • Fluent in English with very good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Advanced computer ability (competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email & Internet)
  • Strong administrative ability
  • Fluent in English & Afrikaans
