Google Ads Management Specialist (Senior Performance Strategist)

About the Role

We are looking for a world-class Google Ads Specialist. Someone who lives and breathes paid acquisition and is comfortable managing complex accounts, high budgets, and demanding clients.

You must be able to:

  • architect advanced campaign structures
  • optimize toward real business outcomes
  • explain your strategy clearly to clients
  • diagnose and fix technical tracking issues
  • make confident decisions backed by data
  • operate with senior-level ownership

This is not a junior role.

This is not a “set it and forget it” role.

We are looking for a Google Ads genius. Someone who knows their craft at a very high level and can drive meaningful performance improvements.

You will work mainly with e-commerce and professional service brands across North America. You will collaborate with our internal creative, CRO, SEO, and dev teams to produce full-funnel marketing results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, build, and optimize advanced Google Ads campaigns (Search, Performance Max, Display, YouTube, remarketing, Shopping, Demand Gen).
  • Develop smart bidding strategies based on business objectives, CAC targets, ROAS goals, and revenue metrics.
  • Continuously test ad variations, keywords, landing pages, and audiences for measurable lift.
Conversion Tracking & Technical Expertise
  • Set up and troubleshoot conversions through Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4, Google Ads conversion tracking, and server-side tracking setups.
  • Understand attribution models and how to interpret multi-touch data.
  • Diagnose tracking mismatches or data anomalies with confidence.
  • Work effectively with developers when technical support is needed.
Client Management & Communication
  • Be the expert in the room - able to explain complex concepts in a simple, confident, professional way.
  • Present monthly performance reports with clarity, recommendations, and next steps.
  • Translate data into actionable insights clients can understand and trust.
  • Manage expectations, timelines, and strategic priorities with professionalism.
Performance Analysis
  • Monitor budgets, pacing, and forecasts across all accounts.
  • Conduct deep audits to identify underperforming areas and growth opportunities.
  • Understand how Google Ads integrates with the full marketing funnel (SEO, CRO, email, creative).
  • Build and maintain dashboards for clear reporting and trend analysis.
  • Work side-by-side with creative and dev teams to align ads, landing pages, and tracking.
  • Collaborate with internal PMs to manage tasks, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to improve client results across all channels.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Must-Haves
  • 3-5+ years managing Google Ads campaigns in a performance-driven environment.
  • Proven history of improving ROAS, lowering CAC, or scaling paid budgets responsibly.
  • Deep understanding of GA4, GTM, attribution models, and event tracking.
  • Ability to confidently set up, QA, and troubleshoot conversion tracking.
  • Strong command of Search, Shopping, Performance Max, and YouTube campaigns.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and proficiency with spreadsheets (Looker Studio a bonus).
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - for client-facing meetings.
  • Highly organized, self-managed, and proactive.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Google Ads certifications.
  • Experience with Shopify, WordPress, Webflow, or custom-built websites.
  • Experience with Display, Demand Gen, or advanced YouTube strategies.
  • Experience in agencies with multiple concurrent clients.
  • Understanding of CRO principles, A/B testing, or creative strategy.
