GOODWOOD ACCOUNTANT

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS :

• Must be a South African citizen with a valid SA ID number.
• Must have a clean Criminal Background and ITC (Good personal financial standing) - checks will be done.
• Must supply a contactable reference from a recent senior person you reported to; reference checks will be done.
• Must have a completed Diploma or Degree in Accounting.

Area : Goodwood, Cape Town

Appointment : Permanent, full-time, office-bound position: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00

Salary : R40,000 - R50,000 CTC per month

Job Purpose :

To ensure the provision of high-quality financial accounting services that support effective management of the company's financial resources within statutory and regulatory guidelines. The accountant reports to the Financial Manager and will be responsible for full accounting duties such as debtors, creditors, petty cash, banking, accounts, statutory and monthly reporting.

Qualifications and experience :

• Matric with Accounting.
• Diploma or degree in Accounting (tertiary qualification).
• At least 3 years of experience in commerce and industry.
• Computer literate, proficient in MS Office with advanced Excel skills.
• Previous experience with financial software packages is essential.

Responsibilities include:

• Creditors: processing invoices, following up with suppliers, resolving discrepancies, account reconciliations.
• Debtors: processing payments, producing statements, collections on overdue accounts, account reconciliations.
• Banking: processing deposits, bank reconciliations.
• Processing employee expenses.
• Company credit card reconciliations.
• Invoice creation and distribution.
• Filing and record retention.
• Maintaining fixed asset register.
• General journals (depreciation, provisions, interest, salaries, etc.).
