We're seeking a Fund Accountant to join our dynamic finance team and play a key role in supporting our fund and related entities.
Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of Annual Financial Statements (AFS) for the fund and related entities
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting policies and standards
- Provide updates on accounting policies and note disclosures during AFS preparation
- Accounting & Financial Systems
- Contribute to the enhancement of financial reporting tools and outputs
- Prepare VAT and Income Tax calculations and returns
- Post general journals and process transactions using Pastel Accounting
- Download and review Trial Balances, Ledgers, and other reports from the system
- Process and review payment transactions
- Fund Accounting
- Prepare and distribute monthly/quarterly fund performance reports
- Compile monthly investment statements
- Draft and circulate payment notices to stakeholders
- Prepare SARB (South African Reserve Bank) reports
- Coordinate audit confirmations for fund investors and administrators
- Record cashbook entries and general journals for fund entities
- Generate inter-company invoices between funds and managers
- Load payments to fund managers and investors
- Year-End Process & Budgeting
- Coordinate year-end activities to ensure timely delivery of audit-ready information
- Prepare reconciliations and supporting schedules for audit submission
- Respond to audit queries and support the external audit process
- Contribute to the preparation of group consolidated AFS
- Deliver accurate trial balances for fund entities
- Assist in compiling annual budgets, including management fee inputs
- Ad-Hoc Support
- Provide general support to the finance department as needed
- Participate in finance projects and initiatives that enhance efficiency and compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent)
- Minimum 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in fund management or investment finance
- Proficient in Pastel Accounting and Microsoft Excel
- Solid understanding of tax, VAT, and financial reporting standards
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management, communication, and teamwork abilities
