Overview

A leading retail company situated in Gauteng is urgently seeking an experienced Food Technologist to join their team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Building supplier relationships and verifying suppliers’ adherence to regulations, standards, and company requirements.
  2. Managing product and packaging information for accuracy, relevance, and availability, ensuring compliance with specifications, regulations, and standards.
  3. Assisting with new product development through factory trials and product analysis (chemical, microbiological, and physical).
  4. Maintaining quality standards throughout the supply chain.
  5. Managing product quality and food safety.
  6. Handling customer complaints.
  7. Keeping the product range current and relevant to industry trends.
  8. Seeking improvements through new ideas, methods, and approaches.
  9. Managing product specifications for accuracy and adherence by vendors.
  10. Organizing category management via effective administration and time management, including saving documents onto SharePoint.
  11. Attending supplier meetings with buyers and providing relevant product or facility information.
  12. Conducting product benchmarking.
  13. Visiting stores to assess quality.

Key requirements :

  1. Relevant tertiary degree.
  2. At least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
