Job summary

A transport company in Gauteng is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to supervise fleet operations, coordinate drivers, and ensure compliance with safety standards. Key responsibilities include managing vehicle maintenance, generating performance reports, and improving productivity. The ideal candidate should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience, strong analytical skills, and be proficient in Excel. This role may require long hours, including weekends and public holidays.

Job Summary
  • Fleet Management: Oversee all aspects of fleet management. Monitor and manage fleet operations, wages, tracking, fuel consumption, route planning and scheduling. Constant monitoring of driver and vehicle performance and efficiency & finding ways to improve productivity.
  • Driver Management: Coordinate driver schedules, routes and assignments, ensure compliance with regulations and Company policies. Assign and ensure execution of tasks to drivers.
  • Communication: Liaise with drivers on a regular basis providing updates and resolving any issues. Track orders and deliveries.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with Company policies and safety standards.
  • Vehicles: Coordinate vehicle maintenance to ensure the fleet is maintained, including scheduling of services and COF inspections for vehicles to remain in a safe and roadworthy condition. Monthly inspections and arrangements for services and repairs.
  • Reporting: Generate reports on fleet performance, efficiency, productivity and any other reporting required by management.
Requirement
  • Education: Matric
  • Experience: Previous experience in fleet management (at least 2-3 years) or related field
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of fleet management and technology i.e. tracking will be an advantage
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills as well as organisational abilities
  • Sober habits
  • Willing to work long hours, public holidays and weekends
  • Computer literate and Excel experience (compulsory)
  • Own Transport
