Job summary

A reputable financial services firm in Durban is seeking an experienced individual to support the Group Audit and Financial Control teams. Responsibilities include evaluating business processes, assisting accountants, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication and project management skills, as well as transport for commuting. This full-time role offers the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Group Audit Project Manager/Group Financial Control Manager.
  • Assist Senior financial and BI accountants in performing functions to meet business needs.
  • Understand and evaluate business processes and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Work closely with development and operational teams to test integrations and new products.
  • Support the Group Audit Project Manager in maintaining the risk register.
  • Promote a culture of compliance with relevant regulations.

  • WorkcloselywiththeGroupAuditProjectManager/GroupFinancialControlManager.
  • Assist Senior financial and BI accountants in performing the functions and to help develop thefunctionsandtohelpdevelopthedepartmenttomeetthe needsofthebusiness.
  • Understandandevaluatebusiness processesandidentify improvementopportunities.
  • Workcloselywiththedevelopmentandoperationalteamstotestintegrationsandnew products.
  • Workonthedeploymentofnewsoftwareand/or relatedprocesses.
  • Submitworkingpapersdocumentingthedailyfindings.
  • Identify and rectify weaknesses within procedures, processes, policies and related internal controlframeworks.
  • Continuously look to improve efficiency and effectiveness through ongoing learning/developmentandnewtechniques.
  • Timeousandaccuratereportingoffindingswithmaterialvalueormaterialrisk.
  • Helping to develop a culture of continuous improvement through process re-engineering andchange management.

  • Support the Group Audit Project Manager / Group Financial Control Manger regarding themaintenanceof theriskregister.
  • Intense focusonqualitywithregardstocommunication,capturing, documentationetc.
  • Ensurelogicalsavingofallwork,templates,etc.monthly. andyearlysuchthateachyear’sfinancialrecordscanstandonitsownwhenenquiries/investigations/auditstakeplace.
  • Produce high quality, neat, logical, succinct, easy to follow, easy to understand, formula linkedwork/templates/workbooks/financial models/recons - of which is substantiated by facts with nonumbersintheformulas.
  • Ensuretheabove(finalversion)andotherdocumentsarechronologically saved/backedup.
  • Summaries the detailed daily findings on the designated software and submit a daily report to theGroupAuditProjectManager /GroupFinancialControl Manager
  • Effectivelydealwithinternal,external,SARS,NCAandBEEauditors
  • Promote declaration of all gifts and report suspicious requests to clear queries from departmentsrespondingtoqueries
  • Promotedeclarationallconflictsofinterestupfront
  • Promoteacultureofconfidentialitywithinthebusinesswithregardstothe protectionofpersonalinformation
  • Promote a culture of compliance with FICA and AML regulations with regards to reporting ofsuspicioustransactions.
  • Ensure all personal information of loan applicants and suppliers and other stakeholders is notsharedandismaintained in a secureenvironment.
  • Stayabreastwithchangesintherelevantindustryandchanges to relevantActs/Regulations
  • Ensure that relevant Audit Policies, Procedures, Manuals and training manuals are maintained andupdatedaccordingly
