Key Responsibilities
Core Financial Management
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting, ensuring compliance with local and international standards.
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes, providing accurate and timely financial reports.
  • Supervise tax compliance and regulatory filings across multiple jurisdictions, optimizing Jabu's tax position.
  • Coordinate both internal and external audits; maintain strong internal controls to mitigate risks.
Cost Allocation & Profitability
  • Develop and implement frameworks for allocating direct and indirect costs at a granular level (e.g., per safe, per customer).
  • Track and analyze profitability across different product lines, markets, and regions.
  • Identify underperforming units or clients and recommend actions to improve margins or discontinue services.
Treasury & Payments Management
  • Manage cash flow and working capital, ensuring operational continuity and strategic flexibility.
  • Build relationships with banking partners, payment processors, and other financial institutions across African markets.
  • Oversee cross-border and local payment processes, prioritizing security, speed, and cost-efficiency.
Financing & Loan Structuring
  • Propose and evaluate financing strategies (e.g., bank loans, venture debt, asset financing) for product expansion (e.g., new JabuSafes).
  • Negotiate terms with lenders or investors, managing interest rates, collateral requirements, and repayment schedules.
  • Mitigate risks (currency fluctuations, rate volatility) with appropriate financial instruments or hedging strategies.
Strategic Financial Planning
  • Collaborate with leadership to assess new market opportunities, create financial models, and guide investment decisions.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) that align with Jabu's growth objectives.
  • Develop and maintain pricing and profitability strategies in collaboration with product and sales teams.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Recruit, mentor, and scale a high-performing finance team capable of supporting multi-market operations.
  • Implement robust financial systems, tools, and technologies to enhance reporting, analytics, and scalability.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
